404 Study Task #8 - Walk cycles

I animated a few different walk cycles with both bipeds and quadrapeds, some walking and running, all in differing styles in movement. For the bipeds, I used the Great Birb Blob, simple circles and stick legs to show how the cycle works. The scratchy ones were animated in TVPaint while the coloured ones were animated in Photoshop CC.

404 #2 - World Concept Art with Characters

I wanted to keep the background colours to be dark and for the antagonist to be able to blend right in. Keeping the antagonist as a leering creature in the background with dark colours and a regal pose helps establish a menacing tone and encourages the fear of the unknown in the audience.

I wanted the main character to have slightly brighter colours that draw the eye and distinguishes the protagonist from the environment but not so bright as to alienate her completely from the world. It's meant to be a way of the audience seeing themself in the protagonist, which helps create fear.

404 Study Task #5 - 3D Modelling

I decided to model something very simple that I could easily model and render, so I decided on a child's plastic chair that you could find in a kindergarten or daycare. From a picture of a chair used as reference, I modelled the front two legs, then added the seat itself, followed by the back legs and the back piece. From there I bevelled certain areas to smooth them out and make it look more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable looking.
I proceeded to add some basic multi coloured lighting just so I could see what it would look like rendered, then added a simple shiny blue texture to give it a plastic look.

I really enjoyed doing 3D modelling and would quite like to learn it more, although textures and rendering are very difficult.

504 #11 - Evaluation

I had very different roles in the 504 Competition and Documentary.  The Competition came first, which I teamed up with Ly and James to ma...
